Best Retro Gaming Accessories
Ok, so the items in this list are not exactly essential. Hell, you could even argue that they’re not even necessary, but God damn it, they certainly are fun!
I have spent many years collecting various items that I don’t need, but these objects listed below always manage to bring a smile to my face. I’d even go so far as to say that most retro gaming fans would feel empty inside without at least a few of these fantastic items decorating their retro gaming cave.
Paladone Pac Man Ghost Light
A synonymous symbol of retro gaming, this Pacman Ghost light is the perfect addition to any gaming room. Lighting in 16 different rotating colours it casts a relaxing glow throughout the area. Powered by USB meaning it doesn’t even have to occupy a plug socket, it even has a party mode that reacts to music and sound.
Nintendo Gameboy Alarm Clock
Let’s face it, no one likes getting up in the morning. However, I can think of worse things to wake up to than the classic curves and dulcet tones of Nintendo’s first handheld console.
With no expense spared on attention to detail, this little beauty even emits the theme tune from Super Mario Land as it’s alarm. A simply awesome piece of kit which I would definitely have at my bedside… If only my wife would let me.
Numskull Men’s Sonic Sweater
Yes, it’s a Christmas jumper, and despite the fact that you swore you wouldn’t be seen dead in one of these, I bet this Sonic themed festive garment is beginning to change your mind. Admit it; if you were ever going to wear one of these it would be this one… and my goodness, what a jumper it is! With classic Christmas jumper stitching and patterning it’s sure to turn heads and generate compliments at your next Christmas shindig.
Legend of Zelda Ocarina
There are many iconic objects throughout the retro gaming world, arguably one of the top ones is the flute like musical instrument played by Link in the N64’s Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Well, now you can own an impressive replica of that mesmerising thingamajig, and what’s more, you’ll even be able to play it. This kiln fired ceramic Ocarina comes with its own stand and even a music book so that you can play all those haunting tunes that you know and love… Ok, so you didn’t exactly love the tunes, but it still makes for a fantastic display piece.

For the more suave retro gamers amongst you, you will be happy to learn that there’s a way to combine your love of retro gaming with your keen sense of style.
These NES controller modelled cufflinks offer the perfect finishing touch to an otherwise dull ensemble. Sure, James Bond never wore them, but then he always took himself a little too seriously.
Mario Kart Spiky Blue Shell
Now this item was just too good to leave off the list. The days of the spiky blue shell being that annoying gremlin that inevitably snatches almost certain victory from you, are gone. At least, that is, for the person hurling this soft bundle of aggression.
This spiky blue shell cushion is the perfect item to lob at that one friend that keeps beating you at every retro game. Endlessly hilarious and not a bit dangerous, even your well targeted victims will see the funny side eventually.
