Best Mobile Device Controllers

Mobile devices have become a fantastic resource not just for gaming in general but also for retro gaming (excluding iOS devices that is). Today’s mobile phones and tablets have the power you need to play pretty much any retro game and have the storage capacity to contain all the games you’ll ever need.

The only issue there is is that many people struggle to use the virtual buttons on the devices screen. The absence of physical buttons to feel and therefore the lack of any tactile feedback means that buttons often get missed at crucial moments of the game. Added to this the fact that the virtual buttons often inhibit your view of the game, means that gaming on mobile devices is generally an inferior option.

Fortunately, there are a wide range of connectable controllers that go a long way to solving these issues. Here are some of my favourites.

Best For Quality – Dragon Slay Titan

Dragon Slay Titan

Featuring smooth sleek lines and a sturdiness that is not generally found in the mobile device controller category, the Dragon Slay Titan exudes style from ear to ear.

Although the unit is best suited to the Samsung Galaxy Note (S9+, S9,S10 note10) it can accommodate any Android phone with a screen size between 5.5 and 7 inches.

All buttons are conveniently positioned so that they can be easily reached. This feature is complimented by the textured grips on either side of the controller, which allow for a steady and secure hold. The battery life is also substantial offering up to 10 hours of gaming time before it needs to be recharged. It even comes with it’s own hard travel case included so there is no need to worry about it being knocked around in your bag.
